Every Tuesday morning, we all gather around in one room in Building A. This session we all know as assembly is a time for us all to gather together as one PB3 Campus and it’s also an opportunity for a teacher or speaker to share a message. “The main purpose of assembly is to come together as a school, reset our moral purpose, focus on the Lord, and spend time as an entire campus community.” said Mr. Sumner, Grade 9 English teacher.

To some students, assembly may not only be a time where we listen to teachers and guest speakers share information, but also a time to think about the day, the rest of the week, and to relax in the lecture theatre. A recent study conducted on attendees from PB3 shows two out of three enjoy assembly.

Students should get the chance to speak the Word of God or share a message in assembly. There are various benefits students can receive from speaking in assembly. Students can build self-confidence as they learn the important skill of public speaking. Many students struggle to speak in front of the classroom, such as presenting a group presentation. This experience also allows us to grow spiritually in Christ as we learn more about God’s Word and purpose for us in the course of researching for a talk. Sharing the message of God is a way for students to get to know each other better since they can relate to the Word of God through experience.

However, this is not always the case. “In order to give a message of God, we need to be trained to deliver it properly,” said Mr. Djoharli, the PB3 principal. Adults have gone through a lot in their lives, which means they have more experience. Adults, such as our fellow teachers, can relate their experiences with the Word of God better than we can. In delivering a sermon, one should be trained to share it, in order to avoid wrongly teaching the audience. Being mature and prepared about the topic is also important.

Nonetheless, about 86% of the attendees agreed that this opportunity should be given to students. Sharing the Word of God for us may not be possible yet, but sharing our experiences can benefit us and also inspire others.
